Jose Rodriguez, MD

Dr. Jose Rodriguez was born and raised on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. He received his formal years of education, including Medical school, in Puerto Rico. It should be noted, Dr. Rodriguez is an avid sportsman. He was captain of the Puerto Rican National Rowing team during his tenure in Medical school; moreover, he led the team to the 1979 Pan American games. Both he and his wife (Amarilis Vega M.D.) completed their residencies in New York, and later took their family to Texas where Dr. Rodriguez completed his fellowship in Spine surgery.   • Long Island College Hospital: Internship and Surgery Residency (1981-1983)
  • New York Medical College: Research Fellowship in Laser Surgery in Orthopaedics (1983-1985)
  • New York Medical College Dept. of Orthopaedics: Orthopaedic Surgery Residency (1985-1989)
  • Texas Back Institute in association with UT Southwestern Medical School: Spine Fellowship (1989-1990)

Dr. Rodriguez is licensed in Texas, Puerto Rico, and New York. He also serves as a Clinical Instructor of Orthopaedic surgery at the University of Texas Health Science at Herman Hospital. A list of Dr. Rodriguez’s current professional affiliations is as follow:
